Terms of Use
These terms cover your use of the Walnut app and its Pro subscription. Walnut is made by Kircitech (“we”, “us”). By downloading or using Walnut, you agree to them.
Apple’s license comes first
Walnut is licensed to you under Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the Standard EULA). These terms add to it. Where the two disagree, the Standard EULA applies. Apple is not responsible for Walnut or its support; we are.
What Walnut does, and what it doesn’t
Walnut uses Apple’s Screen Time to lock the apps you choose for the length you set. Each completed session earns a piece of a 3D object. Opening a locked app early breaks the session and costs the last piece you placed; you have 30 seconds to undo.
- You can always get in. Breaking a seal or Emergency unlock opens your apps at any time, even in Strict mode. Don’t lock an app you may need in an emergency.
- Walnut is a tool for your own habits. It isn’t medical advice or treatment, and it doesn’t guarantee less screen time.
- Locks depend on iOS. If Screen Time access is turned off, an iOS update changes behaviour, or the system ends a session, apps may not be locked. Walnut tells you when it notices.
- Your progress lives on your iPhone. Pieces, objects and streaks are not backed up. Deleting Walnut or using Delete all data removes them, and we can’t restore them.
Walnut Pro
Walnut is free to use. Walnut Pro adds Strict mode, more missed-day recoveries, extra finishes and objects, and choosing what you build next. Pro is an auto-renewing subscription sold through Apple’s App Store:
- Yearly: $29.99 a year, with a 7-day free trial for new subscribers.
- Weekly: $4.99 a week, no trial.
Prices are in US dollars; the App Store shows the price in your currency before you buy, and that price applies. Taxes may be included or added depending on where you live.
- Payment. Payment is charged to your Apple ID when you confirm the purchase. With the yearly trial, the first charge happens when the 7-day trial ends, unless you cancel before then. Walnut can remind you before the trial ends.
- Auto-renewal. The subscription renews automatically at the same price for the same period unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Your Apple ID is charged within the 24 hours before renewal.
- One trial. The free trial is offered once per Apple ID. If you buy the weekly plan during a yearly trial, any unused part of the trial ends.
- Price changes. If the price changes, Apple tells you in advance and, where required, asks you to agree before you are charged the new price.
- Restore. Use Restore purchases in Walnut’s Settings to turn Pro back on with the same Apple ID on a new or reset iPhone.
Cancelling
Cancel anytime: in Walnut, open Settings › Manage subscription; or open the iPhone Settings app, tap your name, then Subscriptions, then Walnut. After you cancel, Pro stays on until the end of the period you paid for. Deleting Walnut does not cancel the subscription.
Refunds
Apple processes all payments, so refunds go through Apple, not through us. You can request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. Apple decides refund requests under its own policies. Except where the law requires otherwise, we can’t issue refunds or partial refunds ourselves.
Using Walnut fairly
Don’t copy, modify, reverse-engineer, resell or redistribute Walnut, or try to get Pro features without paying for them, except where the law allows. Walnut, its name, 3D objects, design and text belong to Kircitech. We may update, change or stop offering features. If we stop offering Pro, active subscriptions are handled under Apple’s rules.
Disclaimer and limitation of liability
Walnut is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent the law allows, we make no warranties beyond those in the Standard EULA, and we don’t promise that Walnut will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that every lock will hold.
To the extent the law allows, Kircitech is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost time, data, progress or missed messages or calls, arising from your use of Walnut, including while an app is locked. Our total liability for any claim about Walnut is limited to the amount you paid for Walnut Pro in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can’t be limited by law, or your rights as a consumer.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We will change the date on this page, and for changes that matter we will tell you in the app. If you keep using Walnut after a change, the new terms apply.
